Lime sulfur use tips

Lime-sulfur compound is a widely used special treatment agent for managing defoliation in fruit trees, as well as controlling diseases such as powdery mildew, rust, ring rot, pear rust, flower rot, and various pests. However, its effectiveness in killing eggs is limited. When used alone to control apple spider mites, the reduction rate of the pest population was 87% after one week, 85% after two weeks, and only 39% after seven weeks. This indicates that the traditional application method has significant limitations in long-term efficacy. To improve results, a new method has been developed. With this improved approach, the reduction rate of the insect population reached an impressive 99.9% to 100% at one, two, and seven weeks post-treatment. The enhanced formula involves mixing 0.5% lime sulfur with 0.5% detergent and 0.4% salt. It's important to fully dissolve the detergent and salt before combining them with the lime sulfur mixture. This ensures even distribution and maximizes the effectiveness of the solution. When applying the mixture, it's recommended to spray both the upper and lower surfaces of the leaves thoroughly. This method not only improves coverage but also enhances the overall impact on the target pests. The combination of lime sulfur with additional ingredients creates a more potent and longer-lasting effect, making it a valuable tool for integrated pest management in orchards. By following this updated procedure, growers can achieve better control over apple spider mites and other common pests, leading to healthier crops and higher yields.
