The solution of common problems in pepper seedlings

The main reason for the delayed emergence was due to the low temperatures and continuous rain following the nursery stage. The water in the seedbed became infiltrated, leading to insufficient moisture on the surface of the bed soil, which negatively affected the seedlings. To address this, it is recommended to use a sprayer during midday on sunny days to provide additional moisture. This will help maintain optimal humidity levels and promote healthier seedling growth. Burning seedlings typically occur during the middle of the growing period when temperature fluctuations are significant. This is a type of high-temperature physiological disorder caused by inadequate management during the seedling phase. On sunny days, proper ventilation is essential, especially when the noon temperature exceeds 20°C. At this point, the plastic cover should be fully removed to prevent heat stress and ensure better air circulation. Flash seedlings are another form of physiological disorder resulting from improper ventilation and management. This condition can cause sudden wilting after the seedlings are removed from the cover, followed by curled leaf edges and white, dry leaves. It's crucial to manage ventilation effectively. On the leeward side, the air outlet should be opened gradually, and fresh air should be introduced regularly to avoid sudden environmental changes. Zombie seedlings, also known as weak or stunted seedlings, are often caused by poor soil management and an unbalanced seedbed structure. These seedlings exhibit symptoms such as small yellow leaves, slow growth, and thin, hard stems. To improve their condition, increase light exposure, ensure timely watering during the seedling stage, and maintain soil moisture at 70%–80%. Applying foliar fertilizer can also enhance overall seedling development and resilience. For disease prevention, damping-off and blight are the most common issues affecting pepper seedlings. Damping-off tends to occur under low temperatures and high humidity, while blight is more prevalent in high-temperature and high-humidity conditions. To prevent these diseases, apply a solution of 70% thiophanate-methyl diluted 800 times or 50% mancozeb diluted 500 times. Regular spraying can significantly reduce the risk of infection and support stronger, healthier plants.
