Buying agricultural products should pay attention to several time concepts
According to the consumer protection guidelines issued by the China Consumers Association, farmers and herders should be aware of key timeframes when purchasing agricultural products. These regulations aim to ensure that consumers are well-informed and protected in case of product issues.
Under the "Three Guarantees" policy, if a product fails during its warranty period, the repair service must resolve the issue and restore normal function within 40 days from the date of repair. The service provider is required to keep detailed records of all repairs, and the seller must provide a free replacement of the same model and specification for farmers and herders.
For a 15-day period following the purchase, if a product experiences a safety-related or performance failure, farmers and herders have the right to request either a replacement or repair. The seller must comply with the consumer's choice and handle the situation accordingly. In the case of internal combustion engines, tractors, combine harvesters, or agricultural transport vehicles, if the product still fails after 15 days of replacement, farmers can request a full refund, and the seller must process it at no cost.
For other types of products, if a safety or performance issue arises within 15 days of purchase, farmers and herders may also request a return, and the seller must offer a free refund.
Additionally, during the "Three Guarantees" period, if a combine harvester, tractor, planter, or similar equipment breaks down during the busy farming season, and the fault can be fixed within the service network, it must be resolved within two days. If the issue cannot be repaired on-site, it should be fixed within five days. Outside of service centers, sellers are responsible for ensuring repairs are completed during the busy season, and this arrangement should be clearly communicated to farmers and herders at the time of sale.
These provisions are designed to support rural consumers and ensure their rights are upheld when dealing with agricultural machinery and equipment. Farmers and herders are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these rules to better protect their interests.
