How safe is the fry

To ensure the effectiveness of the clear pond medicine, a test was conducted before stocking the fish fry. A number of fry were placed in cages within the pond, and their activity was observed for half a day to a full day. The fry showed normal behavior, indicating that the medicine was initially effective. However, after approximately seven days, the efficacy of the clear pond medicine significantly diminished. Before introducing the fry into the pond, the empty pools were cleaned by using a fine mesh net to remove harmful insects, frog eggs, cockroaches, and wild fish that had accumulated in the back part of the pond. This step was crucial to create a safe environment for the young fish. Timing is essential when transferring fry to the pond. If transferred too early, the fry are still tender, have poor feeding habits, and low vitality, leading to a lower survival rate. On the other hand, if transferred too late, the fry may be older, with their yolk sac already absorbed, causing them to be weak, undernourished, and more prone to death. Fry should be moved to the pond when they are about four to five days old, have a fully inflated swim bladder, and are actively swimming and feeding outside the yolk sac. It is recommended to choose sunny ponds for fry stocking. Sunny weather brings higher temperatures, which enhances the fry's vitality and supports healthy growth. In contrast, rainy days can cause sudden temperature drops and water fluctuations, reducing the fry’s energy levels. During rain, fry tend to focus on swimming against the current, which exhausts them and prevents them from eating properly, increasing the risk of mortality. Before moving the fry into the pond, it's important to feed them first. To improve their health and strength, 10,000 fry were given 2 cooked egg yolks in the afternoon before stocking. The egg yolks were wrapped in gauze, crushed, and washed into a fine suspension for feeding. The next morning, an additional meal was provided. By noon, the egg yolk quantity was increased to 4 portions, and the fry were allowed to start sprouting. It is also important to select fry of the same species to maintain uniformity and reduce stress. On windy days, the fry should be placed on the upwind side of the pond to prevent them from being blown toward the edges, where they might die. If the fry are transported from another location, especially in nylon bags, the temperature difference between the water in the bag and the pond should not exceed 4°C. The bag should be opened first and floated in the pond for about ten to fifteen minutes until the temperatures equalize. Only then should the fry be carefully released into the pond.
