Skillful first aid fish pond
1. Introduce fresh, oxygen-rich water into the pond regularly. Ensure that the water inlet is covered with gravel or dry wood to allow the water to flow slowly and prevent disturbance of the muddy bottom. At the opposite end of the pond, drain a portion of the old water. When adding water, it's best to install a sprinkler on the outlet pipe so that the water falls gently into the pond like rain. For small still ponds, an air pump connected to a hose can be used to pump water in. Attach a diffuser to the top of the hose or drill small holes along the hose to create fine bubbles that increase the surface area for oxygen exchange, thereby raising the dissolved oxygen level in the water.
2. Circulate and oxygenate the water. If there's no natural water flow, use a pump to draw low-oxygen water from the bottom of the pond, let it sit in the air for a while to absorb oxygen, and then return it to the pond. This process helps increase the overall dissolved oxygen content in the water.
3. Use two fish ponds to aerate the water. Pump water from Pond A to Pond B, leaving a small gap between the two. Once the water level in Pond B rises above that of Pond A, the water will naturally flow back. This method enhances oxygen levels in both ponds, making it an efficient and practical solution for maintaining good water quality.
4. If you notice fish floating belly-up, gather them near the water inlet and try to save as many as possible. Remove dead fish immediately to prevent pollution and reduce the risk of disease spread.
5. Apply a compound oxygenating agent such as "991". The dosage should be 0.01 kg per kilogram of fish in the pond. For ponds with high organic load, adjust the dose accordingly. If fish are floating heavily, apply the oxygen agent directly at the center of the affected area, using a concentration of 50-100 ppm. After application, avoid disturbing the water to maintain stillness and allow the oxygen to dissolve effectively.
