Beijing massager is of poor quality

Release date: 2006-08-09

A recent quality inspection of massage devices in Beijing has revealed serious concerns about the overall product quality. According to reports from China Medical News, massage equipment is considered a popular and convenient health care appliance, often featuring functions such as vibration, kneading, tapping, electrical stimulation, and infrared heating. However, a recent survey conducted by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision has raised alarms about the safety and reliability of these products.

The inspection covered a wide range of technical requirements, including product classification, labeling, protection against electric shock, input power, heat generation, leakage current, electrical strength, moisture resistance, abnormal operation, stability, mechanical hazards, structural strength, internal wiring, components, power connections, external cords, terminal connections, grounding, screws, creepage distance, clearance, insulation distances, power terminal disturbance voltage, and more—covering a total of 21 testing items.

In this round of sampling, 11 products from six different companies were tested, but only six of them passed the inspection. This means that the pass rate was just 55%, which is far below acceptable standards for consumer safety. The results indicate a significant gap in quality control among local manufacturers, raising questions about the long-term safety and effectiveness of massagers available on the market.

Consumers are advised to be cautious when purchasing massage devices and to look for certified products that meet national safety standards. With the growing popularity of such appliances, ensuring their quality and safety should be a top priority for both producers and regulatory authorities.
