Ginger cultivation should pay attention to timely planting

Open two grooves that are 180 centimeters wide and 10 centimeters deep in the sampan. The bottom of the furrow should be covered with livestock and poultry manure. Apply 75 kg of cake fertilizer per 667 square meters, and use 15–20 kg of compound fertilizer as a base fertilizer. After applying the fertilizer, cover the soil with a layer of 3–4 cm and wait for the next planting stage. Planting density must be carefully determined based on multiple factors, including local experience and field test results. The density is typically divided into three categories depending on the fertility of the ginger field, the size of the ginger pieces, and the level of management: 1. For low-fertility fields, where the ginger piece weighs less than 50g, a row spacing of 48–50 cm and a plant spacing of 14–15 cm is recommended. This results in about 9,000 plants per 667 square meters, with an expected yield of around 1,500 kg. 2. For medium-fertility fields, where the ginger piece weighs between 50–75g, use a row spacing of 50 cm and a plant spacing of 16–17 cm. This gives approximately 8,000 plants per 667 square meters, with a yield ranging from 1,500 to 2,250 kg. 3. For high-fertility fields, when the ginger piece is 50–75g, a row spacing of 50 cm and a plant spacing of 19 cm is suitable. This leads to about 7,000 plants per 667 square meters, with a yield exceeding 2,250 kg. If any of the above conditions are not met, the planting density should be adjusted accordingly. There are several cultivation methods. The first is open-field cultivation, which includes flat planting, pit planting, and ridge planting. The second is the small arch greenhouse method, and the third is plastic film covering. Mulching is highly recommended because it helps warm the soil, retain moisture, prevent nutrient loss, and loosen the soil structure. It promotes faster seedling emergence, stronger growth, and can increase yields by 30% to 50%. When planting ginger, ensure that the buds face the same direction and that each row is straight. When placing the ginger, keep the bud facing upward to make harvesting easier. After planting, cover the seed fertilizer with soil, making sure the surface is slightly raised. Avoid leaving the fertilizer exposed for too long, and if needed, use regular soil as a substitute.
