Celery scientific cultivation method

Precision Seedbed Preparation

To create an optimal seedbed, select a loose and fertile garden area with a bed width of 1 to 1.2 meters and a ditch depth of 10 to 15 centimeters, ensuring a flat surface for even water distribution. Sowing should be done in August. The recommended seeding rate is 400 grams per acre, with a seedbed-to-field ratio of 1:8. Before sowing, perform low-temperature germination by soaking seeds in water for 12 to 24 hours, rinsing them thoroughly, removing the outer layer, and drying the surface moisture. Then, wrap the seeds in a damp cloth and place them in a refrigerator at 5°C for 15 to 16 hours. Once germinated and showing white tips, sow only 50% of the seeds to ensure strong and healthy growth.

Post-Sowing Management

During hot midday periods, use straw mats to protect the seedlings from direct sunlight. On rainy days, cover the beds again to prevent soil erosion caused by heavy rain. Regularly water the seedlings to maintain moisture and avoid drought stress. Combine watering with organic fertilization by mixing compost or manure into the irrigation water to enhance nutrient availability during the early growth stage. After planting, apply one bag of imidacloprid per acre, diluted in 10 kilograms of water, and spray it as a fine mist to control locust infestations effectively.

Timely Transplanting

When seedlings have developed 5 to 6 true leaves and reach a height of about 10 cm, they are ready for transplanting. Choose well-ventilated, sunny areas with loose and fertile soil. Before transplanting, allow the soil to dry slightly and incorporate sufficient base fertilizer. Typically, each seedling bed should receive 2 to 3 cubic meters of decomposed organic manure, 50 kg of superphosphate, 10 kg of potassium sulfate compound fertilizer, and 8 kg of urea. Mix the fertilizer thoroughly into the soil before planting. For large-scale fields, wet the ground first and evenly spread the fertilizer. After waiting five days, directly plant the seedlings into the field.

Fertilizer Management

Apply fertilizer early to encourage rapid stem and leaf development. About 15 to 20 days after transplanting, apply 10 to 15 kg of urea per acre. Continue regular fertilization throughout the growing season. Spray a soluble boron solution or superphosphate leaching solution 2 to 3 times to prevent petiole cracking and heart rot. To prevent yellowing of the petioles later on, apply one more treatment 10 to 15 days before harvest, which significantly improves the quality of the final crop.

Pest and Disease Control

For locusts, use insecticides like anti-inferiority. For leaf spot and blight, apply chlorothalonil or anti-virus warts. In case of virus diseases, use phytosanitary spirit, antiviral No. 1, or virus A for prevention and treatment. Soft rot can be controlled with agricultural streptomycin sulfate or neomycin. Regular monitoring and timely application of appropriate treatments are essential to maintain healthy crops and maximize yield.
