In the past, controlling peach tree diseases primarily relied on spraying methods, which were not only time-consuming and required large amounts of chemicals but also caused environmental pollution and high economic costs. In recent years, we have conducted field trials using a smearing technique for peach tree disease prevention, which has proven to be highly effective and significantly improved upon traditional control methods. For the test, we selected peach trees with average vigor, including those that were 5 and 12 years old. The soil was loamy, and the overall management practices were moderate. The tested agents included 20 times diluted Peach Net (produced by Jinan Donghe Chemical Co., Ltd.), 15 times diluted Sore Carbuncle (from Hunan Tianyu Pesticide Chemical Industry Group), 30% Peach Disease Wettable Powder diluted 10 times (produced by Qiqihar Four Friends Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.), Extinguish New Viscous Suspension Liquid (developed by the Institute of Silkworm at Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences), Koto Oil Paste (a mixture of 70% Thiophanate-Methyl Ultrafine WP and 20 parts of edible vegetable oil), and 50% Taoxian Ultra-Wettable Powder diluted 10 times. The control group used only water. Efficacy tests were conducted before and after tree germination, as well as during different seasons. The results showed that applying the smearing method to control peach tree gum disease can be done throughout the year without significant harm to the tree. However, it is most effective when applied before or after the tree begins to sprout. Among all the treatments, the combination of Extinguish New Viscous Suspension Liquid and Chlorpyrifos Oil achieved the highest efficacy, with a control rate exceeding 90%. Following that, the Sore Carbuncle agent also showed good performance. This new approach offers a more sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional spraying, reducing chemical usage and minimizing environmental impact while maintaining high effectiveness in disease control.
