Before feeding, it's important to test the quality of the distillers' grains. If mild contamination is detected, you can neutralize it by adding lime water or sodium bicarbonate before feeding. However, if the distillers' grains are severely spoiled, they should be discarded immediately to avoid health risks. At the same time, proper management is essential—monitor the quantity of distillers' grains given to each cow, keeping it between 5 to 10 kilograms per day to avoid overfeeding. Second, in case of poisoning due to distillers' grains, immediate treatment is necessary. (a) Administer 100 to 150 grams of sodium bicarbonate dissolved in water to affected cows once. (b) Give 300 to 500 ml of sorbitol or mannitol solution intravenously. (c) Inject a mixture of vitamin B1, B6, C, and K (40–60 ml total), along with 40 ml of 10% sodium benzoate and 800–1200 international units of penicillin via intramuscular injection. (d) Prepare a herbal decoction using 100 grams of Pueraria, 100 grams of raw licorice, 100 grams of yam, 100 grams of jujube, and 50 grams of Astragalus. Feed this once to the affected cows. It’s also recommended to monitor the cows closely after treatment and provide them with clean water and a balanced diet to support their recovery. Regular health checks and careful handling of feed materials can significantly reduce the risk of poisoning and ensure the well-being of your herd.
